Local Business Schema Generator

Fill in your business details and this tool writes LocalBusiness JSON-LD that you can paste into your website. It formats South African numbers as +27, groups your opening hours and leaves out anything you skip, so the code stays valid.

South African numbers are converted to +27 format.

Address

Country is set to South Africa (ZA).

In Google Maps, right-click your pin (or press and hold on a phone) to see the two numbers. South African latitudes are negative.

Opening hours

Tick the days you are open and set the times. Days that are not ticked are treated as closed. For 24 hours, use 00:00 to 23:59.

Your JSON-LD

Before you publish, test the code in the Schema Markup Validator and Google's Rich Results Test. Everything you type stays in your browser.

    How it works

As you type, the tool builds a schema.org object for the business type you chose and turns it into JSON-LD with the browser's own JSON encoder, so quotes and special characters are escaped correctly. Empty fields are left out rather than sent as blanks. Phone numbers such as 082 123 4567 become +27821234567, and days with the same hours are grouped into one opening hours entry.

    Where to put the code

    • One location: paste it into the <head> of your homepage or your contact page, whichever shows your address and phone number.
    • Several branches: make one block per branch and put each on that branch's own page.
    • WordPress: most SEO plugins have local business settings that output this for you. If yours does not, a header code plugin that can target a single page works. Avoid adding the same business twice from two plugins.
    • Website builders: look for "custom code" or "header code" in the page settings.

    Keep it consistent

Your name, address and phone number (NAP) should read the same in the schema, on the visible page, on your Google Business Profile and in directories. If you move or change numbers, update all of them on the same day. Schema that disagrees with the page is ignored at best.

    What not to add

Only mark up facts that are true and visible to visitors. Do not invent reviews, star ratings, awards or branches. Google's guidelines treat misleading structured data as spam, and it can cost you rich results across the whole site. If you want help with the bigger picture, our local SEO service covers schema, your Business Profile and local landing pages.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is LocalBusiness schema?

It is a small block of code (JSON-LD, using the schema.org vocabulary) that tells search engines your business name, address, phone number, opening hours and other details in a format they can read without guessing. Visitors never see it; it sits in the code of the page.

Where do I paste the code?

Paste the whole block, including the script tags, into the head section of your homepage or your contact page (the page that shows your address). On WordPress, use your SEO plugin's local business settings or a plugin that lets you add code to the header of one page. Add it once per location, not on every page.

Will schema get me into the Google map results?

Not on its own. Schema helps Google understand and confirm your details, but the map results lean mostly on your Google Business Profile, your reviews there and how close you are to the person searching. Treat schema as one part of local SEO, next to a complete Business Profile and consistent details across the web.

Which business type should I choose?

Pick the most specific type that honestly describes what you do, for example Plumber rather than LocalBusiness. If nothing fits, use LocalBusiness or ProfessionalService. The type is a hint to search engines; it does not limit which searches you can show up for.

Can I add star ratings or reviews to my schema?

Do not add ratings or reviews about your own business to this markup. Google does not show review stars for businesses that mark up reviews about themselves, and made-up ratings break Google's guidelines and can lead to a manual action. Collect real reviews on your Google Business Profile instead.

I work from home. Do I have to publish my address?

No. If you do not show your home address on your website, leave the street address out of the schema too, and fill in the suburb, city, province and areas served. Schema should match what is visible on the page. Your markup may then not qualify for every Google feature, but your privacy matters more.
