How much does a website redesign cost?
In South Africa a small business website redesign usually costs about the same as a new website of the same size, from roughly R2,500 for a few pages to R15,000 or more for large sites. Our redesigns use the same once-off prices as our web design packages, from R1,450 for one page to R8,950 for up to 30 pages with a shop, and each includes a year of hosting and a .co.za domain. What adds cost is moving a lot of content, setting up many redirects, or changing platform, for example from Wix to WordPress.
Redesign without losing your SEO
The biggest risk in any redesign is losing the Google rankings you already have. Rankings belong to URLs, so when pages disappear or change address without a redirect, that traffic is lost. We protect it in four steps:
- Crawl the old site and record every URL, title and heading.
- Keep URLs that rank exactly as they are, where possible.
- Redirect every changed URL with a 301 to its closest new page.
- Check after launch for broken links and 404 errors, and resubmit the sitemap to Google.
We used this process on our own site, which moved from WordPress to a new platform with every old URL kept or redirected.

Changing platform as part of a redesign
