Which hosting plan do I need?
Answer six quick questions about your site, mailboxes, budget and speed, and we will recommend one hosting plan and one alternative from our current price list, with monthly and annual prices and the reason for the pick.
Answer the six questions and press Show my plan. Your recommendation appears here.
This is a starting point, not a guarantee that a plan fits every site. Prices come from our live price list. If your site is busy, unusual or business-critical, ask us and we will check it first.
How it works
The quiz uses a short set of rules, shown below, so you can check the reasoning yourself. It only recommends plans on our current price list, and every price comes from the same file as our order pages.
How answers map to plans
| Your answers | Recommended | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Email only | The smallest email plan with enough mailboxes (Email 25GB for up to 20, Email 50GB for up to 50, Email 75GB for 51 to 75, with Email 100GB offered as the alternative for up to 100) | Lowest price first and 50 or fewer mailboxes: Silver or Gold web hosting, which include mailboxes. Otherwise the next email plan up |
| Just testing, or a tiny personal page | Free (new registrations only) | Silver |
| Two or more websites, no speed extras | Unlimited Plus (up to 3 sites) or Unlimited Pro (up to 7). WordPress sites: WordPress Ultimate for up to 3 | The business plan for the same number of sites |
| Two or more websites with speed extras, more than 10,000 visitors, or a shop | Business Plus (up to 3 sites), Business Advanced (up to 5) or Business Pro (up to 7). More than 7 sites: ask us | The standard plan for the same number of sites |
| One online shop | Business | Lowest price first: WordPress Pro. Room to grow: Business Plus |
| One WordPress site with speed extras or more than 10,000 visitors | WordPress Business | Business |
| One WordPress site, lowest price, under 1,000 visitors or not sure | WordPress Starter | WordPress Pro |
| One WordPress site, any other answers | WordPress Pro | WordPress Business |
| One new site with speed extras or more than 10,000 visitors | Business | Unlimited |
| One new site, lowest price, under 1,000 visitors or not sure | Silver | Gold |
| One new site, lowest price, 1,000 to 10,000 visitors | Gold | Unlimited |
| One new site, room to grow | Unlimited | Business |
After that, the quiz checks your mailbox answer against each plan's email account limit on our price list. If a plan has too few, it moves up to the next plan in the same range: Silver includes 10 email accounts, Gold 50 email accounts and WordPress Starter 50 email accounts; Unlimited and every plan above it have unlimited email accounts. Email 25GB includes 20 email accounts.
The visitor bands are a rough guide, not plan limits: the website plans list unlimited bandwidth or traffic, but every account has its own share of processing power and memory, and a busy site needs more of it. If yours is busy, ask us. "Not sure" on speed is treated as no, because you can upgrade later without moving your site to another company. The result shows the monthly and annual price and the saving for paying annually; annual billing works out cheaper on most plans and means one payment a year instead of a monthly debit order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which hosting plan is best for a small business website?
For one site, the deciding factors are usually how many mailboxes you need and whether price or headroom comes first. Silver (R39 a month) and Gold (R79 a month) suit small sites on a tight budget, and Unlimited (R149 a month) adds a free .co.za domain and unlimited email accounts. If it is a WordPress site, look at WordPress hosting instead.
What is the difference between web hosting, WordPress hosting and business hosting?
All three run your site on a shared server. Our business hosting plans add NVMe storage and two to four times the standard CloudLinux resources, from R199 a month, so busier sites and shops cope better. The WordPress Business and Ultimate plans add the same kind of extras for WordPress sites. Our guide to shared vs business hosting explains when the upgrade is worth it.
How many visitors can each plan handle?
We do not publish visitor limits, because the answer depends on how the site is built: a cached brochure site uses far less of the server than a busy shop with search and a cart. Traffic is unlimited on every plan in this quiz except the email plans, but processing power and memory are shared fairly. If you expect a lot of traffic, ask us and we will look at your site before you choose.
Should I pay monthly or annually?
Annual billing costs less than twelve monthly payments on most plans. Unlimited, for example, is R1,490 a year instead of R1,788, a saving of R298. The quiz shows the saving for each plan it recommends.
Can I start small and upgrade later?
Yes. Start with what you need now and move up when you regularly hit resource limits, run out of space or need more websites or mailboxes. Our guide on when to upgrade your hosting plan lists the signs to look for. Contact us to change plans.
What is the Free plan for?
The Free plan (200MB disk space, 5 email accounts) is for trying things out or a tiny personal page. It is for new registrations only. For a business site, start with Silver at R39 a month or see our free web hosting page for the details.
