School Website Design for Schools, Preschools and ECD Centres

Parents choosing a school or creche look at the website before they phone, and existing parents check it for term dates, fees and notices. We design school websites for South African independent schools, preschools, creches and early childhood development centres, with admissions, fees and a parent area that staff can update, from R1,450 once-off including a year of hosting and a .co.za domain.

What a school website needs

Admissions that make sense

Who you take, age or grade cut-offs, the application steps, documents needed and closing dates, on one clear page.

Term dates and calendar

Term dates, public holidays, sports days and parent evenings that office staff can update in minutes.

Notices and newsletters

A news section for notices, newsletters as PDFs and reminders, so parents stop asking the same questions on WhatsApp groups.

Careful with children’s information

Application and contact forms that collect only what you need, with consent wording, because children’s information has extra protection under POPIA.

Fees and what is included

Fees per grade or age group, what they cover, extra-murals, aftercare and payment options, set out plainly.

Found by local parents

Pages built for searches such as “preschool near me” or “creche in Durbanville”, with a map and transport details.

Registration details parents look for

Parents increasingly check that a school or centre is properly registered. Since 1 April 2022 the registration of early childhood development programmes sits with the Department of Basic Education and the provincial education departments, after moving from Social Development. Independent schools must be registered with the provincial Head of Department under section 46 of the South African Schools Act, and those offering the National Senior Certificate must also be accredited by Umalusi.

On the website we show your registration or accreditation exactly as it appears on your certificate, on the About and Admissions pages. If registration is in progress, we say so honestly rather than leave parents guessing.

Photos of children and POPIA

Under POPIA a child is anyone under 18, and their personal information may generally only be processed with the consent of a competent person, usually a parent or guardian. Photos of identifiable learners on a public website count. We build galleries so you can choose which photos are public, keep names off captions, and link a clear privacy policy. Our guides to POPIA for websites and website privacy policies explain the basics. This is practical guidance, not legal advice, so check your consent forms with your own adviser.

Pages a school or ECD centre usually needs

  • Home: who you are, ages or grades, location and a clear “Apply” or “Book a visit” button.
  • About: ethos, staff, registration and history.
  • Admissions: steps, documents, dates and an enquiry form.
  • Fees: per grade or age group, with aftercare and extras.
  • Curriculum and daily routine: CAPS, IEB or another curriculum, or a typical day at a creche.
  • Extra-murals and aftercare.
  • News and calendar: notices, newsletters and term dates.
  • Contact: map, office hours, phone and WhatsApp.

Staff email on your own domain, such as office@yourschool.co.za, looks far more trustworthy to parents than a free Gmail address. See email hosting.

Who it is for

  • Independent primary and high schools
  • Preschools, creches and Montessori schools
  • ECD centres and day mothers
  • Aftercare, tutoring and extra-mural providers

Kevin from web design hosting has been excellent to work with for the last 10 years. He handled the design and hosting of our website for Zeek Gold and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He’s responsive, explains things clearly, and always follows through on what he promises. He built / redesigned our site at zeekgold.co.za, and whenever we’ve needed changes or help, he’s sorted it…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website for a school cost?

Our packages start at R1,450 once-off for a one-page site, which suits a small creche. Most schools choose 10 pages at R4,950, which covers admissions, fees, curriculum, news and contact. A year of hosting and a .co.za domain are included.

Can parents apply online?

Yes. We add an application or enquiry form that collects the basics and emails your office. For full online applications with document uploads, ask us about the options so children’s information is handled carefully.

Can our office staff update notices and term dates?

Yes. Every package includes an editor, so staff can post notices, upload newsletters and change dates without a developer.

Can we post photos of learners?

You can, with parental consent. We set up galleries so you control which photos are public, and we leave names off by default.

Can our staff have email addresses on the school domain?

Yes. Every package includes email on your domain, so teachers and the office can use addresses such as office@yourschool.co.za. For more mailboxes, see our email hosting plans.
