What an adviser or broker website needs

FSP status up front

Your FSP name and number, the statement that you are an authorised financial services provider, and a link so clients can check it.

Service pages

Life and disability cover, medical aid, short-term insurance, retirement and investments, each explained without jargon.

Adviser profiles

Each adviser’s qualifications, the FSP they represent and the areas they cover.

Quote and call-back forms

Forms that collect only what you need to make contact, with POPIA consent wording and a privacy policy.

Disclosures page

Licence categories, compliance officer, complaints process and ombud details, laid out as your compliance officer advises.

Secure and private

Free SSL on every page and email on your own domain for client correspondence.

FAIS rules that shape your website

Financial advisers and brokers are authorised by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act 37 of 2002. An authorised provider must disclose that it is an authorised financial services provider in its documentation, advertising and marketing material, and the public is told to check a provider on the FSCA website before doing business. So we show your FSP name, number and status on every page footer and on a disclosures page.

Section 14 of the FAIS General Code of Conduct covers advertising. As amended, it expects adverts to be factually correct, clear, balanced, in plain language and not misleading, not to criticise other providers or products, and to use testimonials only where they reflect a genuine client opinion. Where an advert cannot carry all the detail, it should say that information on key limitations, exclusions, risks and charges is available. Your key individual, or a senior person they delegate, approves the copy before it goes live. This is practical website guidance, not compliance advice.

What clients look for before they call

Most people looking for an adviser or broker have a trigger: a new baby, a home loan that needs life cover, a business that needs liability insurance or a retirement date that is getting close. They want to see that you handle their need, that you are authorised and that a real person will call back. Clear service pages, adviser profiles with photos and a short call-back form answer those questions. A broker who places cover with several insurers can list the product providers they work with, as their agreements allow.

Pages an adviser or broker website needs

  • Home: who you help and how to start.
  • Services: one page per type of cover or advice.
  • About and advisers: profiles, qualifications and the FSP they represent.
  • Disclosures: FSP details, licence categories, compliance officer and complaints process.
  • Request a quote or call back.
  • Privacy policy: see our POPIA checklist for websites.

Client policy documents should go out from an address on your own domain. See email hosting.

Who it is for

  • Independent financial advisers and planners
  • Short-term and long-term insurance brokers
  • Medical aid and employee benefits brokers
  • Representatives building their own practice brand

Kevin from web design hosting has been excellent to work with for the last 10 years. He handled the design and hosting of our website for Zeek Gold and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He’s responsive, explains things clearly, and always follows through on what he promises. He built / redesigned our site at zeekgold.co.za, and whenever we’ve needed changes or help, he’s sorted it…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website for a financial adviser cost?

Our packages start at R1,450 once-off for a one-page site. Most advisers and brokers choose 5 pages at R2,950 or 10 pages at R4,950, which covers services, advisers, disclosures and a quote form. A year of hosting and a .co.za domain are included.

Does my website need to show my FSP number?

An authorised provider must disclose that it is an authorised financial services provider in its advertising and marketing material, and clients check providers on the FSCA website. Showing your FSP name and number on every page makes that check easy. Your compliance officer can confirm the exact wording.

Can I use client testimonials?

Under the amended General Code of Conduct, testimonials in advertising must reflect a genuine client opinion and experience. Use real testimonials with the client’s permission, and have your key individual approve them like any other advert.

Can clients get a quote online?

Yes. We add a quote or call-back form that collects contact details and the type of cover needed. Detailed health and financial information is better collected once you are speaking to the client, which keeps POPIA risk low.

Can my compliance officer review the site before it goes live?

Yes. We send you a staging link and make the changes your compliance officer asks for before launch.
