What an electrician’s website needs

Registration up front

Your electrical contractor registration and the registration category of the person who signs your CoCs, shown as they appear on your certificates.

A clear CoC page

What a Certificate of Compliance covers, when sellers need one, what you test and what happens if faults are found.

Solar and backup power

Inverter, battery and solar PV installation pages, which are among the most researched electrical services in South Africa.

Fault call-outs

Click-to-call and WhatsApp for tripping breakers and power failures, with your emergency hours stated plainly.

Service areas

The suburbs and towns you cover, so you appear in local searches and avoid calls from too far away.

Work for agents and landlords

A section for estate agents, conveyancers and property managers who need CoCs booked quickly before transfer.

CoCs and property sales

The Electrical Installation Regulations, 2009, made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, say that only a registered person may issue an electrical Certificate of Compliance, and that a user or lessor may not allow a change of ownership if the CoC is older than two years. Registered persons are electrical testers for single phase, installation electricians and master installation electricians, and electrical contractors must be registered with the Department of Employment and Labour. That is why “electrical CoC” searches spike around property sales.

A CoC page that explains the process in plain language, with your turnaround time and what you need from the seller, brings in steady work from homeowners and estate agents. We keep the legal wording factual and leave the technical detail to you.

Solar, inverters and backup power

After years of load shedding, many South African homeowners and small businesses compare inverter, battery and solar options online before they call anyone. They want to know what size system runs which appliances, what brands you install, whether the installation is signed off with a CoC and what happens with warranties. A page per system type, with photos of your own installations, answers those questions and sets you apart from installers who only post a WhatsApp number.

Pages an electrician’s website needs

  • Home: services, areas, registration and the call button.
  • CoC inspections: process, timing and what is tested.
  • Fault finding and repairs: tripping, no power, DB board upgrades.
  • Solar and backup power: inverters, batteries and PV.
  • Commercial work: shops, offices and maintenance contracts, if you do them.
  • Projects: photos of finished work.
  • Contact: phone, WhatsApp, hours and a quote form.

We built a website for Ampco Projects, an electrical and construction company. If you also do building work, see our page for construction companies.

Who it is for

  • Domestic electricians and owner-operators
  • Electrical contractors doing commercial and industrial work
  • Solar, inverter and backup power installers
  • CoC specialists working with estate agents

Kevin from web design hosting has been excellent to work with for the last 10 years. He handled the design and hosting of our website for Zeek Gold and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He’s responsive, explains things clearly, and always follows through on what he promises. He built / redesigned our site at zeekgold.co.za, and whenever we’ve needed changes or help, he’s sorted it…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website for an electrician cost?

Our packages start at R1,450 once-off. Most electricians choose 5 pages at R2,950 or 10 pages at R4,950, which covers CoCs, fault finding, solar, projects and contact. A year of hosting and a .co.za domain are included.

Should I show my registration on the website?

Yes, if it is current. Customers and agents increasingly ask to see it, and the Department of Employment and Labour has warned the public about fake electrical contractors. Show it exactly as it appears on your certificate.

Can I get work from estate agents through my website?

A clear CoC page with your turnaround time and a booking form makes it easy for agents and conveyancers to refer you. Pair it with a local SEO plan so the page ranks in your area.

Can the website include a solar or inverter quote form?

Yes. We can add a form that asks about the property, monthly usage and which appliances need backup, so you can quote faster.

Can I add photos of jobs myself?

Yes. Every package includes an editor so you can add project photos and short write-ups from your phone.
