What an architecture or interiors website needs

Project portfolio

A page per project with large photos, drawings, location, brief and scope, filterable by type such as residential, commercial or alterations.

Big images that load fast

Photos resized and compressed for every screen, so a full-screen gallery still loads quickly on mobile data.

Registration shown clearly

Your SACAP registration category and number, so clients can check it before they appoint you.

How we work

Your stages from brief and concept to plans, approvals and handover, which answers the first questions new clients ask.

Project enquiry form

A form that asks for location, project type, budget range and timing, so you can qualify enquiries before a site visit.

Add projects yourself

Upload new projects and photos in the editor as they are completed.

SACAP registration and what clients check

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) registers architectural professionals under the Architectural Profession Act 44 of 2000, in four categories: Professional Architect, Professional Senior Architectural Technologist, Professional Architectural Technologist and Professional Architectural Draughtsperson. SACAP tells the public to check the register before appointing anyone, to appoint registered professionals competent for the task under its Identification of Work policy, and not to appoint candidates, who work under a registered professional’s supervision. A website that states your category and registration number, and links to the SACAP register, answers that check before the client asks. Interior designers who are not SACAP registered should describe their services accurately and say who handles plans and approvals on projects that need them.

Portfolio first, but searchable

Architecture and interiors sites often look good but say almost nothing, so they rarely appear in search. We keep the clean, image-led design and add short, useful text to each project: the brief, the site constraints, the materials and what changed. That gives Google something to read and helps clients searching for “architect for house extension in Cape Town” or “interior designer Umhlanga” find you. Large galleries need fast hosting and careful image handling, which our guide to speeding up a WordPress site explains.

Pages an architect or interior designer needs

  • Home: a few signature projects and what you do.
  • Projects: the portfolio, filterable by type.
  • Services: new builds, alterations, interiors, space planning or 3D visualisation.
  • How we work: your stages and what each one delivers.
  • About: your team, registrations and approach.
  • Contact: a project enquiry form, map and hours.

A strong identity matters in a design business. If yours needs work, see logo design, and keep the site updated with website maintenance.

Who it is for

  • Architectural practices and sole architects
  • Architectural technologists and draughtspeople
  • Interior designers and decorators
  • Kitchen, joinery and space planning studios

Kevin from web design hosting has been excellent to work with for the last 10 years. He handled the design and hosting of our website for Zeek Gold and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He’s responsive, explains things clearly, and always follows through on what he promises. He built / redesigned our site at zeekgold.co.za, and whenever we’ve needed changes or help, he’s sorted it…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website for an architect cost?

Our packages start at R1,450 once-off for a one-page site. Most practices choose 10 pages at R4,950, which leaves room for a projects section, services, process, about and contact. A year of hosting and a .co.za domain are included.

Will large project photos slow my website down?

Not if they are handled properly. We resize and compress images for each screen size and load them as the visitor scrolls, so galleries stay sharp and quick.

Should I show my SACAP registration on my website?

Yes. SACAP advises the public to check the register before appointing an architectural professional, so showing your category and registration number, with a link to the register, saves the client a step.

Can I add new projects myself?

Yes. Every package includes an editor, so you can add photos and descriptions of new projects as they are completed.

Can you show 3D renders and walkthrough videos?

Yes. We can add renders to project galleries and embed walkthrough videos from YouTube or Vimeo, which keeps your hosting fast.

Do I need permission to show a client’s home in my portfolio?

It is good practice to ask, especially for private homes. Many clients are happy to be shown without their name or exact address, so we can label projects by suburb and type, such as “family home, Constantia”, and leave out anything that identifies the owners.
