What an accounting practice website needs

Clear service pages

Bookkeeping, payroll, tax returns, company registrations, annual financial statements and independent reviews, each explained in plain language.

Credentials you can check

Your designation, professional body and tax practitioner registration, shown exactly as they appear on the official records.

Safer document handling

Links to your client portal or cloud accounting app, so ID copies and bank statements are not sent through a contact form.

Packages and fixed fees

Monthly bookkeeping or payroll packages with what is included, if you price that way, so small businesses can compare.

Deadline reminders

A news section for tax season, provisional tax and CIPC annual return reminders, which brings clients back to your site.

Professional email

Email on your own domain for every staff member, which clients trust more than a free address.

Show your designation and registrations correctly

Clients increasingly check before they hand over their books, and the professional bodies make that easy. SAICA awards the CA(SA), AGA(SA) and AT(SA) designations and has a “verify a member” tool. SAIPA members hold the Professional Accountant (SA) designation and SAIPA also offers member verification. Only auditors registered with the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) may perform statutory audits, so an audit page belongs on your site only if a registered auditor signs off the work.

Tax work has its own rule: under the Tax Administration Act, anyone who provides tax services to taxpayers must be registered with SARS as a tax practitioner and with a recognised controlling body such as SAICA, SAIPA, SAIT, ACCA, CIMA, CIBA, the IAC or the FPI. We list your designations and registration numbers on an about or credentials page so clients can check them.

What small business owners look for

Most people searching for an accountant are a small business owner who is behind on returns, has just registered a company or needs payroll sorted before month end. They want to know three things fast: do you do what I need, roughly what does it cost and how do I start? Service pages that answer those questions, with a short “how onboarding works” section and a consultation request form, convert better than a single page that lists everything. If you serve a specific town, our local SEO plans help you show up in map searches for “accountant near me”.

Pages an accounting website needs

  • Home: who you work with and your main services.
  • Services: one page each for bookkeeping, payroll, tax, company secretarial and financial statements.
  • About and credentials: your team, designations and registrations.
  • Packages or fees: if you publish them.
  • New client onboarding: the documents you need and how to send them securely.
  • News: tax and compliance reminders.
  • Contact and privacy policy: see our POPIA checklist for websites.

Kevin from web design hosting has been excellent to work with for the last 10 years. He handled the design and hosting of our website for Zeek Gold and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He’s responsive, explains things clearly, and always follows through on what he promises. He built / redesigned our site at zeekgold.co.za, and whenever we’ve needed changes or help, he’s sorted it…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website for an accountant cost?

Our packages start at R1,450 once-off for a one-page site. Most practices choose 5 pages at R2,950, which covers home, services, about, onboarding and contact, or 10 pages at R4,950 for a page per service. A year of hosting and a .co.za domain are included.

Should I put my prices on my website?

If you sell fixed monthly packages for bookkeeping or payroll, publishing a “from” price filters out poor-fit enquiries and builds trust. For once-off or complex work, explain what affects the fee and invite a consultation instead.

Can clients upload documents through the website?

We recommend linking to the client portal of the accounting or document software you already use, rather than accepting ID copies and bank statements through a website form. That keeps sensitive documents in one secure place.

Should I show my SAICA or SAIPA membership?

Yes. Show your designation exactly as your professional body awards it, and your tax practitioner registration if you do tax work. Both bodies let the public verify members, which gives new clients confidence.

Can I add tax season news myself?

Yes. Every package includes an editor and a news or blog section, so you can post deadline reminders and updates whenever SARS or CIPC announces changes.
